What makes

Swimbridge Church of England

Primary School

so special?

Swimbridge is a small village four miles from the market town of Barnstaple in North Devon.  We are a small school set by the roadside just three minutes on foot to the village centre, with views of the surrounding hills. Our original building dates back to 1866, but we have added to this over the years to provide new learning spaces and facilities for our 110 children. Our on-site grounds are small but provide three playgrounds and a woodland garden and just across the road we have a large playing field and nature area.

We are part of a thriving local community and our school maintains an outstanding reputation, with our pupils' achieving excellent progress throughout the school.

As well as our academic success, there is so much more to discover about what makes Swimbridge School so special. We pride ourselves on our Christian Vision which aims to inspire, enable and educate for 'Life in all its Fullness' by teaching a topic based curriculum that contains high quality content, delivered through creative, rich and practical experiences; underpinned with the development of core academic skills in literacy and numeracy. We incorporate outdoor learning, visits and visitors, together with hands on experience as much as possible in order to develop the whole child.

We have a school council who are actively involved in activities, collective worship and projects that continue to develop our school.

Our children are proud to have been able to raise money for many charities, including supporting children through Action Aid for a number of years.

Swimbridge School is open both online and on site!

From the beginning of June, Swimbridge has extended it's on site provision to welcome back a greater number of key worker, vulnerable and SEND pupils. The school has been zoned and accommodates two groups of pupils working in mixed aged 'bubbles'.  It is wonderful to be able to see children learning both on site and at home and to share all our experiences online through Class Dojo and Tapestry.
